Advantages and Rules of Freestyle Sessions

Advantages of a freestyle session vs. a public session:

  • More sessions to choose from
  • Fewer skaters
  • Ability to play program music
  • Use of the full ice surface
  • No restrictions on elements that can be practiced
  • Private lessons available
  • Opportunity to work on program choreography

General rules and etiquette for a freestyle session:

  • The skater playing their music has the first right of way
  • Skaters in lessons have 2nd right of way
  • All skaters must take turns playing music (coaches have priority)
  • Be considerate of everyone on the ice
  • Be safe around younger skaters
  • Exit the ice to talk so you are not in the way of other skaters
